Renegade Web Design (cont.)
I’ve been learning all kinds of php wisdoms lately. Because of the word-of-mouth, the web projects keep coming. I suppose, I’m not so clueless anymore as to what to charge people for my time. The nice round figure that seems to work for this clearly more rural area is $50 an hour, which is a hell of a raise from my day job.
However, I got tired of not knowing how to answer folks who want some ideas about the approximate cost of their project. Is it $500? A grand? Two grand? Will I have to take pictures? Scan? Type? Will they need interactive or static pages? Graphic design of any kind?
So I started writing a little tool that is supposed to help in such circumstances. It is currently in its infancy on my work server [fbcode.com/quote]. Play around with it, tell me what you think.

I think it needs some work. You might want to consider more options available when you click.

It does need a little bit of tweeking, but I really love the idea. I’m a freelance copywriter in a small town area and I run into the same dilemma when it comes to guestimating total charges for a project. Good work!
